60 College Street has an interesting history. It was first built

From Montpelier Register of Historic Places:
Front door has paneled and leaded sidelights, fanlight, and wide plain surround. Rear wing, once a barn and now apartments, has quarter-circular gable windows, entablature, and porch with square posts, paired brackets, entablature, and railing. Second story enclosed porch at northeast corner. Capitals beneath entablature at corners suggest house once had pilasters. Shingles cover clapboards. Front porch has columns and frieze.

Built for Enoch Putnam, who came to Montpelier in 1868 to run the boardinghouse for the new Vermont Methodist Seminary, and who later made his fortune in the grocery business (Putnam & Marvin at #42 Main St.). Around 1929 the clapboards were covered with shingles and the rear carriage barn was converted to two apartments. This is an interesting house, rich in details.
